COVID-19 means riding has changed

I’d been meaning to make a video titled “Adventure from your doorstep” for some time but it sort of lacked a purpose or narrative.

Then coronavirus hit and cycling changed altogether for me.

No longer could I head to Cannock Chase to explore the hidden trails or venture further afield to The Peak District or any trail centres. Like everyone in the UK, it is limited to local exercise only; so I needed to get creative.

Exploring local trails

For years I’ve had a giant map on the wall. As a geography graduate, I love to pour over maps for no good reason but now I’ve looked with more purpose as I needed to find some local riding.

I’m lucky enough to live on the edge of the countryside and with a bit of following my nose and linking together some remote bridleways, I’ve come up with several amazing loops that are about 20miles long.

This video sums up what impact it had on me, how there is a silver lining and how, without this pandemic, I wouldn’t have ever spent the time exploring my own doorstep.
