Is the new Blue Trail at Cannock Chase suitable for kids?

I have 2 kids (6 and 10) and whilst we ride our bikes lots together around the local bridleways and streets, I wasn’t sure how they would cope with a purpose made mountain bike trail.

Well, a teacher training day seemed like the perfect excuse to find out!

I headed up to Cannock Chase visitor centre (at Birches Valley) where most of the way-marked trails start.

They are all really easy to find and there is zero chance of getting lost.

The first thing you’ll notice is just how many great berms they have created.

They are smooth and flowing and super fun, even for an experienced rider.

The little ones were nervous at first but by the time we had completed the route once, their confidence had grown and they were really starting to understand that the berms were there to help them and make it more fun.

This video below was filmed by my youngest to show you exactly how she felt about riding it for the first time.

I think it is hilarious and if you have young kids you’ll appreciate this from their perspective…

If riding managed trails isn’t your thing and you’re looking for more natural and challenging trails, then watch this….
